Copy existing terminal emulator configurations

You can copy a terminal emulator configuration from another user who has already configured the settings.

  1. Prerequisite: You must have access to your terminal emulator's configuration file (.reg).

Make sure you know the vendor name and the emulator name assigned to the configuration, and the exact name and location of the file. By default, the file is saved in <LeanFT installation>\dat\ and is named <emulator name>.reg.

Note: This file will have been saved to a registry file if the Save terminal emulator settings to file option was selected on the final page of the Terminal Emulator Configuration wizard.

If you do not have the registry file, rerun the wizard on the computer where the terminal emulator is currently configured. On the final page, click Save terminal emulator settings to file and provide a location to save the file.

For more details, see Run tests on terminal emulators (Windows only).

  2. Copy the registry file to your computer

Copy the file to <LeanFT installation>\dat on your computer.

  3. Register the file

    1. Double-click the registry file to open the Registry Editor message box.

    2. Click Yes to add the information into the registry. A message opens confirming that the information has been copied into the registry.

    3. Click OK.

  4. Modify the emulator settings - optional

    1. Open LeanFT and make sure the Terminal Emulator add-in is loaded.

    2. Run <LeanFT Installation>\bin\TeConfigurator.exe to open the Terminal Emulator Configuration dialog box.
    3. Select the emulator from the list and click Adjust configuration to fine-tune the settings.

Alternatively, if you want to use the copied configuration as a base for your emulator configuration, click Open wizard, select the configuration you copied, and run through the wizard. For details, see Run tests on terminal emulators (Windows only).

  5. Click OK to save the configuration.

If the Runtime engine is running you will be prompted to restart it. Click Yes to restart.
